If your Google Chrome is crashing after changing your theme, you are probably trying to use an old DLL for an older version of Google Chrome. Make sure to use vhanla's Google Chrome Theme Updater first!

Use a Manager/Wizard to Change Google Chrome Theme:

Use XChrome by B33T (Recommended)

Manually Change Google Chrome Theme:

Press [WINDOWS KEY + R] or click your Start button and then "Run" to open your run dialog.

Copy and paste this in, and run it, it will open up the directory the Google Chrome's theme file is in.

explorer.exe "%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\0.2.149.27\Themes\"

Make a backup of the "default.dll" file, and extract the DLL provided for the custom Google Chrome theme you want to use to this directory.

Reload Google Chrome, and voila!

Hate to be such a spoil sport, but I can't get this to work on Vista.

It just opens the Documents folder.

NVM... I figured it out.

Had to go here:

C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\

The next folder was numbered 0.3.154.9

Then \Themes\default.dll

Well I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I tried to load the Super Mario Bros. Theme, and it just says "Google Chrome has crashed" when I try to open Chrome.

Hey st438, I just updated this thread and posted a new one with details on updating a Google Chrome theme .DLL for the Super Mario Google Chrome Theme (and any other themes that you find that might be an old version.)

I still can't figure it out. I'm sorry, and thank you for all your help! I know I have a lot of questions.

I am just supposed to remove the original "default.dll" and then drag and drop the new "default_new.dll" into the folder right?

I even tried renaming "default_new.dll" to just "default.dll" and Chrome still crashed.

Yeah, I'm still not able to use any themes with the new Chrome update.  I used the ThemeUpdater tool, but when I change the default.dll file in the Themes folder, Chrome just crashes upon launching.  Any ideas?
