Last night Microsoft automatically installed some kind of upgrade to my Vista. I lost almost all of my customized settings, including my Chrome bookmarks.

It seems like no files were deleted from my computer, so I'm assuming that my bookmarks are stored somewhere. Can anyone tell me where to find them and how to get them back?

Hey there, welcome to Google Chrome Board!

Sorry to hear you had trouble with your upgrades :( hopefully this will help you!

# Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\History
# Windows Vista: C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\History

If you can find that file but for some reason can't use it in Chrome again follow these instructions to retrive bookmarks from that file: Export Google Chrome Bookmarks.

Thanks!

Actually, the next day I figured out the problem.  Somehow, while installing a Vista upgrade and rebooting, Windows logged me in as a temporary user rather than myself.  Eventually this occurred to me and I logged out and then logged back in as me, and everything was back to normal.

But thanks for the info.  It may come in handy in the future.
