First off, I absolutely love everything about Google Chrome and really want to continue using it.

Google chrome has worked perfectly fine for the past month. Today Vista started asking me if I "trust" chrome.exe

This is really annoying and I can't figure out how to fix it, so I figured I would re-install Chome.

The problem is that I can't uninstall it. I tried going into the Start Menu > All Programs > Google Chrome > Uninstall and the uninstall program never starts.

I also tried to go to Uninstall/Change programs, and that does't work either. I select Google Chrome, then click Uninstall and nothing ever happens.

Third, I tried to go in and delete the files... and it won't let me view the folder. I type in the path to the Google Chrome folder and it tries to open it as a webpage in Chrome. Then it says the page can't be found.

HELP!!!! I hate having to use IE to post this!

Do you have Microsoft Office installed? If you are, there is an issue with a file called "ctfmon.exe" and Google Chrome.

Check out: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/282599

Click on "Can I Remove the Ctfmon.exe File?" and follow the instructions, this should clear you up.

I have windows Vista and Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007... I can't figure out the Vista equivalent to some of the commands. For example, in step 1, part 7, it says to click "alternative user input"... I don't have anything called that in the office shared features.

Does anyone have an updated set of instructions on how to disable this file?

I guess those instructions were only applicable up to Office 2003.

Try this to clear up your issues:

Navigate to your Control Panel, and select "Regional and Language Options" ... once that is open click on the "Languages" tab. Click "Details" and on the box that pops up go to the "Advanced" tab and make sure to check "Turn off advanced text services"

I think this should fix everything for you.

That still isn't working... I have the following options once I go into "Regional and Language Options":

Formats Tab
Location Tab
Keyboards and Languages Tab
Administrative Tab

Under the Keyboards and Languages Tab, My only options are:

Change Keyboard (button)
How do I change keyboard.. welcome screen? (link)
How can I install additional languages (link)

and then OK, Cancel, and Apply at the bottom...

Click on "Change Keyboard" and it should give you similar options to the Windows XP steps I posted just before.

When you uninstall you'll see this screen:

Grrr... I'm starting to really get annoyed with Google Chrome for this.

I still can't find what you're talking about... but for some reason it let me uninstall it now.

The only problem is that Vista is still asking me if I want to allow the program to run whenever I try to execute chrome.exe

Re-installing didn't help. In XP, there was a little check box "Don't ask me [if I want to allow file to be exe'd] this again", but I can't find anything like that for Vista.

User Account Control (enabled by default in Vista) is causing that "accept" button every time you start Chrome. To disable, go to Control Panel, and then User Accounts, and disable UAC from there.

Undecided Is there anyway to change it so it recognizes Google Chrome, and I don't have to turn off the feature completely?

I'm not on Vista right now, so I can't tell you off the top of my head, but there should be an "advanced" or "special permissions" area somewhere near the User Account Control administration.

I had the same problem with the UAC prompt. It was driving me crazy. When I went into SAFE mode with Networking I saw that Chrome had installed fine, ran fine and even had the Update server available. I continued to play with Chrome in normal mode and found that if you do the following, you can get the program to work without the UAC prompt coming up. However, it still tells me the Update server is not
available (error 1).

Try this to avoid the UAC prompt:
Go into your C drive.
Click on Users.
Click on your Administrator file (you must be logged in as
Administrator to do this).
Click on AppData.
Click on Local.
Click on Google.
Click on Chrome.
Click on Application.
Click on 0.2.149.29.
Click on Installer.
Click on the zipped file in there called chrome.

That should reinstall the updated version of chrome. Note: your old Chrome icons (if you still have Chrome installed from before) won't work. Delete them and when it reinstalls through this procedure you will have new icons which should open the program up without the UAC. Let me know if that works for you. Also, let me know if you still have
the "Update server not available when you check" under About Google Chrome.

Good luck.
