How can I display my bookmarks in the normal fashion, like in IE or Firefox even, on the left side?

I tried everything I could think of, clicking and dragging it, looking for a setting, etc. I don't think this is possible right now, but I'm sure when there are third party extensions available, someone will make something like this.

Good if we can have this - important when you are doing your bookmarking - just drag and drop to the sidebar!
