My PDF windows will always freeze, and I will not be able to do anything with that tab, and have to shut it down with the Google Chrome process manager ... sometimes it even crashes the whole application!

Does anyone have a solution for me? I deal with PDF's every day but I don't want to have to save them and open them in Adobe Reader manually every time!

Have you tried uninstalling Adobe Reader then reinstalling it?

If that doesn't work, I'd recommend using Foxit Reader, a more lightweight (and free) pdf application.

Please ditch Adobe Reader! It's an extremely bloated, resource hogging piece of ... software. Use Foxit Reader, as TYPELiFE recommended.

I de-installed Acrobat Reader and installed Foxit. Now the pdf files download properly while using Chrome. I use firefox too and Foxit works really well in firefox.
