It seems that if the application suddenly quits, you can restore your open tabs the next time you open Google Chrome, but if you're on a laptop, and you suffer loss of power or some other wacky thing causes an unexpected log off, Google Chrome doesn't save your session.

I'm getting really bugged on this feature too, I use a laptop as well and when I close my laptop's top it turns off, and I don't get my tabs back from last time.

Quick fix for this is using the --restore-session command line switch to start Google Chrome.
